Audrey Tautou, Gad Elmaleh, story&directed by Pierre Salvadori.

Just got back from the cinema. I know what you’re going to think: “No shooting, no fighting, no sex – of course he didn’t like it!” Well… you’re pretty close! But no matter the mood (which was obviously for something different), I am capable of pretty much enjoying good romantic comedies (Love Actually, Notting Hill). This one was just… too ‘light’. I wish I could call it at least an eye-candy, but expecting little, little I got. A bit over-advertised. Even the ladies (90% of the audience) did not seem too impressed… Although I managed not to fall asleep in the cinema even though I slept only about 3 hours this night

It’s worth to add I still think it is one of the best of the current shows available…
So, what’s new in DVD rentals…

“ANGEL-A” – New movie from famous director, is it what we could expect from him, the Luc Besson action type, with humor and fast cars?

Surprise I met in cinema was quite outstanding. No fast cars, no aliens, no explosions, NO wasted time!

Black&white picture of a man on the edge -the edge of tiredness, the edge of desperation, the edge of bridge. His only hope and last resort comes from out of nowhere, is 2m tall sexy blonde… and jumps from the bridge… A story of life in the shades of gray, where black turnes to white and white shades to black. And with a great sense of humor too.

“Am I bound to loose?” The question everybody asks himself sometimes. Besson tries to answer it in an original manner. For me it is the first film of his since a long time that can not only provide good entertainment but also leaves us to consider ourselves and the world around us for a while. A film which you will go back to in your thought or perhaps even on DVD. My recommendation, you won’t waste your time! Bon apettite!

Books that changed the world, fantastic, brilliant! Discworld series from Terry Pratchett is really a MUST read!

He leaves behind a keyboard in Wiltshire and says he doesn’t want to get life, because it feels as though he’s trying to lead three already. He is one of the most popular authors writing today. I find his phenomenon in surprising variety of people who really enjoy his novels, from teens to adults, from stall sellers to directors, just name a type of person! His most popular and the biggest novel series is situated in a place called Discworld. A fantastic (in all meanings of that word) world. It’s not like anything you’ve ever seen (unless you’ve seen the Discworld ). All my efforts to describe it would be nothing more than a terrible failure. Enough to say that the amazing sense of humor Pratchett has is combined with unbelievable stories and characters. I’ve seen people laughing to tears telling episodes from the books, I’ve laughed to tears more than once reading them.

The series starts from “The Colour Of Magic” and “Light Fantastic” which basically tell the adventures of Rincewind -let’s say a wizard, and his companion Luggage. The series continues with over twenty novels, the latest one is called Going Postal, but believe me no matter which point of the series you start at you will really like to read all of them, and I mean all of them

What’s more to say? Need a good laugh, alter reality, exciting read? Terry Pratchett is the answer!

Pablo Francisco - Latino sense of humour

Pablo Francisco is a phenomenon.

Any doubts? “Oh my God, it’s a miracle”. I could describe him by simple enumeration of his gags. “Do you know it’s truth?”. I can’t even talk seriously about this guy. I bet he wouldn’t like it if I did.

First, I pay homage to his ability of imitating someone’s voice. Listening to Pablo with your eyes closed, you see Schwarzenegger right behind you. “Listen to me… They’re trying to take my tortillas…”. The range of moods he can imitate is infinite. Psycho woman, excited Mexican speaking English… even Droopy dog makes no barrier for him.

Maybe I’m not into the American culture, but I haven’t heard of a Latino guy who’d achieve such succes in North America. “You don’t even look like a Pablo… You look like a Bobby.” I am glad to see that a Latino makes some noise on the other side of the Rio Bravo and he is not one of the Zapatistas… But the fact he is not a ‘pure north-American’ doesn’t limit his jokes to just one social or national group. There’s nothing sacred for him: from chippendales dancers to movie previews guy, from Latino girls to Chinese barbers… E-ve-ry-thing!

I watch his show everyday and I can’t stop laughing. On the other hand, I wonder, this can be just a fad. I hope not. Well, I believe in Faulkner’s words telling that ‘there is no such thing as was’. When I see a Celine Dion poster, I imagine the big head she has. And I am sure that I will be imagining it till my memory goes away.

For now, I’m waiting for new shows and you can visit Pablo Francisco official website. Have fun!
