Nintendo Snags 3 Million Online

People love their Mario Kart and Animal Crossing.

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection has only been running since November when Mario Kart DS was released, but since Tony Hawk’s American Sk8land and Animal Crossing: Wild World have hit, Nintendo has reportedly picked up an impressive three million online users worldwide, says GamesIndustry.Biz.

Nintendo of Europe general manager David Yarnton confirmed the news yesterday, and again mentioned Nintendo’s much flaunted figure of 50% of Mario Kart DS players in the US hopping into the online arena within the first week.

Nintendo DS should be just the beginning for the company’s online plans; Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is already part of Revolution’s promised features. Online Mario Kart and Animal Crossing is great, but let’s hope they can work on the interface a bit before it becomes a console standard.
