Yurts are a special structure; the term “yurts” actually translates as “dwelling place” and there are people in Central Asia that live in yurt abodes. A traditional yurt is circular in structure: the framework of a yurt is constructed out of solid wood and the rooftop of a yurt is made out of wool weaved into a felt material. Special manufacturers actually produce yurts for additional uses. In addition to serving as adequate shelter, yurts make ideal green houses, garden houses, or can even work as an “extra room” offering up an additional storage place for one’s belongings.

The yurts manufactured for use as a green house, a garden house or to provide individuals with additional storage and they add an element of unique beauty to anyone’s yard. Instead of the traditional greenhouses, garden houses or common storage sheds, many people opt to purchase one or more yurts to add an exotic element to their existing property.

The inside of a yurt is particularly spacious: the round structure of a yurt is perfect for gardeners looking to establish an indoor area to enjoy their favorite pastime. Professionally manufactured yurts are made from industrial lumber and durable fabrics while still maintaining the structures original simplicity and appeal. Yurts are commonly built with stressed lumber; the roofs are made of different materials with different colors to choose from, and if using the yurt as a garden room, one can have a dome skylight installed to offer plants the light they require to grow properly. Today’s yurts are also manufactured with windows, so the yurt can be used as a place to have family gatherings or it can substitute for the common storage shed, thereby giving the individual an attractive location to store their belongings.

Today’s yurts can withstand snow, wind, and other severe climate conditions. Thus, no matter what part of the country one is located in, a yurt can be erected and utilized as one sees fit. Once a yurt is established, its weather resistance will protect whatever is kept inside the dwelling. Furthermore, yurts can be design so that they are handicapped accessible thereby making the dwelling ideal for anyone that wants to add a unique element to their existing property. Window awnings and entrance awnings can be added to yurts, cistern systems can also be added, and yurts can be elevated off of the ground if the owner so desires.
